Assisted Living Activity Calendar

Helen Greathouse Manor Assisted Living offers assistance in activities of daily living in 86 private, one-bedroom apartments. Three daily meals are provided to residents as well as other basic services, such as daily housekeeping, weekly linen service and personal laundry service.

24 Hour Personal Care

Nurses are on site 24 hours a day and residents are checked at frequent intervals. Residents do not require continuous nursing care and an emergency call system is provided for every room and every resident.

Assisted living allows residents to live as independently as possible even though they may need help with personal care. Activities are designed for residents who may be physically challenged. Helen Greathouse Manor is licensed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Services available through private funding only.

A: Residents started moving into Helen Greathouse Manor in November 2005.

Q: Are meals included in the cost?
A: Yes, three meals are served daily in the assisted living dining room on the second and third floors. At move-in, first-floor residents will decide on either second or third floor for their dining location.

Q: Are licensed nursing personnel available to residents at Helen Greathouse Manor?
A: Yes, licensed nursing personnel are on the premises twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.

Q: Does Helen Greathouse Manor have a beauty/barber shop?
A: Yes, there is a beauty/barber shop on the second floor.

Q: Is there an Activity Director at Helen Greathouse Manor?
A: Yes, there is an Activity Director on staff who coordinates activities and events for residents at Helen Greathouse Manor.

Q: Are volunteers needed at Helen Greathouse Manor?
A: Yes, we are fortunate to have an active group of volunteers and we hope that others will join us as volunteers in the future.

Q: Is transportation available to routine doctor appointments in Midland if I no longer drive a car?
A: Yes, transportation to non-emergency doctor appointments may be scheduled at least 72 hours in advance of the appointment based on space available. It is recommended that space is reserved for transportation services at the time the appointment is made.

Q: Are all apartments in Helen Greathouse Manor the same size?
A: Yes, all apartments are the same size.

Q: Is there an emergency call system in the apartments at Helen Greathouse Manor for Assisted Living?
A: Yes, a pendant to contact on-site nursing staff is provided for each resident. In addition, there is an emergency pull cord located in the bathroom.

Q: If a resident at Helen Greathouse Manor needs assistance with bathing or dressing, will staff be available to assist?
A: There are special services that are available to residents at an additional charge:

  • Bathing and dressing assistance
  • Medication assistance
  • Mobility assistance
